The rookie officer, as it was reported, only looked at Smith’s overly-exercised body and said “What’s up,” which caught Smith off guard.
Anyone who has had any experience working for a police force for more than a few days knows, without a shadow of a doubt, that K-9 Officers are the coolest people available. The way they show up late to calls, the way they parade their dogs in front of single moms at the school zones, and even the way they refuse to answer calls because it’s not K-9 related is just remarkable. “Everyone wants to be like them” said Sgt. J. Burton, when asked about the issue. But, unfortunately this was never informed to Officer Tim Dwinly, a four month veteran of the St. Lucia Police Department.
Officer Tim was confronted by K-9 Officer Smith, when he failed to drop his jaw and say “wow,” after Smith passed near him with his dog “Dingo.” The rookie officer, as it was reported, only looked at Smith’s overly-exercised body and said “What’s up,” which caught Smith off guard: “This is outrageous, and I can’t believe that it has happened to me..” said a distraught Smith. He further said that he will speak to his superiors in order to ensure that new officers are told about the sacrifices that K-9 officers do everyday. When asked which sacrifices he was talking about, he claimed: “I don’t know yet, but it’s not easy!”
This latest incident only reassures the lack of respect demonstrated by newer generations of officers, who can’t seem to understand that certain officers, like SWAT, K-9, or Motorcycle Officers, simply are the top of the cream within many police departments. Hopefully this will not repeat itself.
